Overview of the UK Charts 9th February 2024

Love is in the air this week as Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

And to quote Shakespeare "If music be the food of love, play on". Play on, I shall, this is an overview of the UK Charts this week.

SINGLES

Outside the top 40, two songs from the show Hazbin Hotel are knocking on the door at #53 and #55. Those songs are "Poison" sung by Blake Roman and "Loser Baby" sung by Roman and Keith David.

At #40 is "Home" by Good Neighbours, they are a duo that consist of Scott and Oli.

The song rekindles late 2000s/early 2010s nostalgia that came from bands such as MGMT, Passion Pit and Foster the People.

Michael Marcagi's "Scared To Start" rises seven places to #31 this week and "Nothing Matters by Last Dinner Party enters the top 20 at #19.

The top 10 remains almost the same.

YG Marley, Bob Marley's grandson, rises to #9 with "Praise Jah To The Moonlight". Surely a new generation are about begin to reignite the reggae scene just like 1993.

Benson Boone secures his first top 5 hit with "Beautiful Things"; this is mostly due to its popularity on TikTok.

It's also Benson's first top 10 hit in the USA, where it's currently at #8.

The top 4 remains the same. Teddy Swims at #3, Sophie Ellis-Bextor at #2 and Noah Kahan at #1 with "Stick Season".

ALBUMS

It's a quiet week in the Albums Charts.

At #22, it's the return of Kula Shaker with their seventh album 'Natural Magick'.

In 1996, the band almost had a number one hit with "Hey Dude", they would have to take the runner-up spot because of the Spice Girl's juggernaut tune "Wannabe".

Dylan John Thomas makes hit debut in the charts with his self titled album at #21.

Dylan is a Scottish guitarist, who used to busk in Glasgow and was championed by Gerry Cinnamon, one of Dylan's idols.

There's a re-entry for Paul McCartney and the Wings at #16. 'Band On The Run' is 50 years old this year. The Wings released seven albums during their lifetime.

Jamie Webster secures his highest charting album with "10 For The People" at #2.

He is a proud Liverpool FC supporter and is known for his tune "Allez Allez Allez". It continues to be sung by fans of many football clubs to this day.

And taking the top spot are the Last Dinner Party. "Prelude To Ecstasy" is the debut album from the 5 piece female Baroque rockers.
